2006 - RCA Secret
A friend of mind from work told me about a crazy art sale that happens every year to raise money for the Royal College of Art where every day folks have the opportunity to buy postcard-sized art by potentially famous folk (like Damien Hurst and Manolo Blahnik). The trick is that you don't know who created your art before you have actually paid for it and you turn over the card to see the artists name on the back. It sounded like a pretty interesting and fun opportunity so Glen and I got up pretty darn early to get to the sale by 6am. At 6am the line up was already huge (people camp out over night for this) and it was pouring with rain (and I mean bucketing). It was certainly a bizarre experience kinda like art bingo. Out of our lists of pieces we ended up with one each that hadn't sold when we got to the front of the line ... and were happy with that!
