Cornwall, England
In order to maintain the tradition of getting out of London on a bank holiday weekend Glen, Robyn, Damion and I drove down to Cornwall for the weekend. We had a lovely couple of days exploring the sights in the sun. We stopped in Polperro, Fowey and Tintagel on the first day to explore the towns (not to mention their castles and famous Cornish pasties). We even paused to sample the local cyder at a cyder farm on the way to Penzance. Day two saw us getting blown about (but not blown away) by Land's End. We made up for the slightly underwhelming experience by stopping for a lovely cream tea in the sun. We spent the rest of the day exploring St Ives and St Michael's Mount in Marazion. Penzance was a big surprise from a food perspective, we had two excellent evening meals just around the corner from B&B... and the pubs were great too. The drive back was a bit of a bust. It took us just under 8 hours to get back to London in the heavy traffic. We also missed out on visiting Agatha Christie's house in Devon because the National Trust, in their infinite wisdom, didn't open it for a bank holiday Monday! Neither of these was, of course, enough to dampen the fun of the weekend!
