It looks as though I'm destimed to always see Venice in the rain! Saturday morning of our weekend away started out with a drizzle and by lunch time it was absolutely pouring with rain as the thunder claps echoed eerily around the city. By late afternoon though the clouds started to clear and after a late pizza lunch with a bottle of Italian wine we were ready to get out and see more of the city. This visit I got my gondola ride which was lovely and relaxing and a wonderful way to see the city. On Sunday the sun came out properly and we got to see the city in all its colourful glory. Amazingly we found great food which wasn't terribly expensive (a miracle in Venice). I even had great bacala with polenta! In the end it turned out to be a lovely weekend!
