Wedding & Honeymoon (Adelaide & Maldives)
To cut a very very long story short we had some "issues" getting out of London to get to our wedding in Adelaide due to volcanic ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland. After a torturous few days stuck in London (and after booking a number of different escape plans) we finally left London, heading to Paris on the Eurostar and then hiring a car to drive to Madrid with Sarah and Simon with us. We had an overnight stay in Burgos to break up the drive (where I left my wedding shoes in the hotel and fell over in the shower, bruising my leg very badly and knocking my elbow). Finally we made it to Madrid airport which was still open! Our flight was delayed slightly which made us nervous about making our very tight change over to our next flight. Finally we had some luck come our way when they held the flight for us in Doha, we were the last to board and our flight was very empty with only a handful of people on it. We had loads of space each and were able to get some sleep. Finally we arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning we flew to Adelaide... 5 days late but ecstatic just to be there!
The wedding day was absolutely brilliant, very relaxed and lots of fun. We were so happy to have made it!
We had a few days after the wedding to catch up with people but it all went way too quickly. Before we knew it we were off on our honeymoon to the beautiful Maldives. The island was beautiful and quiet and somehow felt quite deserted. We definitely needed the week of relaxation after all the stress on the way out and could have stayed longer!
